Puppies of this breed are very difficult to own, even for an experienced owner. This breed is slow to mature, which makes some owners think that these dogs are silly and impossible to train. Housebreaking may take up to 6 months with this breed; a daily time commitment for housebreaking a pup is 3-4 hours. The first year in the dog’s life is the crucial for its further development. At around 12-14 weeks old, puppies need socialization lessons; after 6 months, they should be provided with basic obedience training. Much exercise and several play sessions a day are required for a puppy.
